eeebuntu Net Book Remix installed on the Asus EEE 701 4Gb - 512Mb Ram

Last week I installed the eeebuntu NBR on my asus eee. I have been very impressed with it,
Here are a few screen shots and tips.

eeebuntu has some great software included in the default installation, It is the first distro that works as well out of the box as the default xandros distro does did.

Here is a little list of things that I think are worth noteing.

Pros:
Faster and cleaner interface, also much more customizable (Easy to do as well)
Firefox 3.0, Flash, Java v6
VLC, Amarok, gtkpod
OpenOffice 2.4
Transmission BitTorrent Client, gFTP Client
Wireshark, Gwget, RDV, VNC
Cheese Web Cam, GpixPod, Gimp
Skype, With Video suport (Tested for 2 hours works very well)
Lots of games, screen shot utility etc
Its not xandros

Cons:
35 Second Boot time
HSDPA 3G modems require a few tweaks to work
SD HD cards need tweak
eee can run a little hotter than normal ( Maybe the temp monitor in eeebuntu just works better ? )

TIPS:

SD HD - Media Support Fix
From "Terminal Window"
sudo gedit /etc/fstab
remove the line with reference to the CD Rom Device /dev/cdrom

HSDPA 3G Modem Support + (Random WiFi Bug Fix)
From "Terminal Window"

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Add the following two lines

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu hardy main

"Save" and "Exit"

From "Terminal Window"

apt-get update

apt-get upgrade

Reboot the system, I had to reboot twice.
Plug in your HSDPA Modem and it should now show under the network manager as per screen shots above.

If you need help installing eeebuntu NBR, I used uNetBootin an install utility that converts a CD iso to USB a bootable pen. Next on boot Press "F2" to enter BIOS and set eee to boot from the USB device first (not the hard disk) after installation BIOS will revert to booting from the hard disk after USB pen is removed.
