The 486 Kid

Bringing back memory's of our youth, Collecting Midi's and MOD's from BBS systems configuring 8 bit sound systems, and games from the 1980's. The 486 kid has a great collection of retro kit, they are still making great music on the old hardware and software. It is truly amazing what you can do with this old kit and a lot of spare time.

486 has traveled the Americas with the S.p.A.Z. Sound System, composing and performing minimal electronic music on the same lo-fi gear for over 10 years! 486's music is made with a selection of trashed, unwanted, obsolete computers, consumer home electronics, and electronic children's toys. Items most professional musicians would consider useless consumer waste. Pulsing sound waves from vintage computer sound chips mix with chunky beats in syncopated time. Short blasts of arpeggios simulate the sound of guitar chords and reminisce of on screen video game characters jumping and sprinting for high scores. His music is arranged in an "audio tracker" type programs on DOS, ATARI, AMIGA, or COMMODORE micro computers. MIDI controlled Nintendo NES and GAMEBOY units are a form of 8-bit sound module.
